Neurosensing/neurostimulation implants session to be held on Monday
From 2–3.30 pm on Monday, 16 February, a session at UNSW Sydney will include people who are benefiting from bioelectronics discussing their lived experience.
The session is part of the Australasian Bioelectronics, Neurosensing and Neuromodulation Symposium and along with neurologist Professor Mark Cook will include four patients who have neurosensing/neurostimulation implants as part of a panel.
One of the implants is treating spinal cord injury pain, while the other participants will be a patient with a vagus nerve stimulator for epilepsy, a patient with a deep brain stimulator for Parkinson’s and a cochlear implantee.
Along with UNSW academic Associate Professor Mohit Shivdasani and Saluda Medical chief technology officer Dean Karantonis, patients will be available for interview on the day to talk about their experience living with the implant.
