Austin Health's new movement laboratory has been opened at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew, Melbourne to provide a clinical movement analysis service to assist people with disabilities to become more independent.

Current research projects include stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, pre and post-hip replacement surgery, premature babies and children with upper-limb birth trauma.

Victorian health minister Bronwyn Pike launched the facility and said in a statement that the centre's location provided an ideal opportunity to put research findings into practice.
