Opara calls for changes at Polartechnics
Wednesday, 15 June, 2005
Just under a week since Richard Opara stepped down from his role as interim chairman of Polartechnics (ASX:PLT) and resigned as director on June 8, his company Patonville, has served a requisition on Polartechnics to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting.
The requisition proposes that Polartechnics CEO Victor Skladnev be removed as a director and Opara be appointed as a director in his place. It also proposes that Robert Hunter, who replaced Opara when he stepped down as chairman, be removed as a director, and Leonard Firestone be appointed as a director instead.
Leonard Firestone resigned as a director of Polartechnics on June 9. He is currently the CEO of Avantogen, a company in which Opara's Patonville recently increased its shareholding to 36.39 per cent, at a cost of over AUD$4.5 million.
