The Commonwealth government is hosting nationwide forums to help it set research priorities.

The public meetings started in Adelaide and Hobart on June 4, and will continue until June 20. A panel led by Chief Scientist Robin Batterham wanted to hear from "everybody who has anything to say about priorities for research spending," according to Science Minister Peter McGauran.

The next meetings are in Perth and Kalgoorlie on June 5, Brisbane on June 6, Melbourne and Armidale on June 12, Sydney on June 13, Darwin on June 18, Albury/Wodonga on June 19, and Canberra on June 20. More information is at www.dest.gov.au/priorities.
