Lambert Instruments High-speed Intensified Camera Attachment (HiCATT)
The High-speed Intensified Camera Attachment (HiCATT) by Lambert Instruments is designed for use with any high-speed camera. It increases the sensitivity of a camera and enables low-light imaging at frame rates up to 1 MHz (10 MHz in burst), making it suitable for applications such as laser-induced fluorescence; single-photon imaging; and high-speed fluorescence, bioluminescence and chemiluminescence detection for in vivo imaging.
The product comes with a rotating camera mount and attaches to all major brand high-speed cameras by using a high-quality, high-NA lens coupling. With 50% QE the user can choose from a wide variety of high-sensitivity intensifiers to match the spectral needs of their application. The unit upgrades high-speed cameras by boosting the intensity of incoming light at speeds up to 1,000,000 fps.
The technology in the HiCATT expands the dynamic range of high-speed cameras. At low light levels, even single photons can be detected; at high light levels, overexposure can be prevented by very short exposures (down to 3 ns). These short exposures yield sharp images of fast-moving objects.
A series of different intensifier control units provide functionality ranging from analog gain control to full digital control, including an internal trigger generator and programmable gate trains. With a wide range of Gen II and Gen III image intensifiers, the product offers high sensitivity down to single-photon level and the optimal spectral bandwidth for the user’s application.
