Lonza NHEM-Neo/NHEM-Ad normal human epidermal melanocytes

NHEM-Neo (Neonatal) and NHEM-Ad (Adult) normal human epidermal melanocytes with optimised growth media can be used in a variety of skin-related research including: pigmentation and cosmetics testing; cellular differentiation; antigen expression; melanoma; UV and sun damage studies; and dermal disorders.

Cells undergo stringent QC testing to ensure good growth and performance with outstanding lot-to-lot consistency: purity is assessed via immunofluorescent labelling with most lots at 85% Mel-5; guaranteed 70% conversion of L-dopa to dopa-melanin to confirm functional performance of adult melanocytes; morphology and proliferative evaluations are performed through serial passages after cryopreservation; cells test negative for HIV-1 and hepatitis B and C.

MGM-4 (Melanocyte Growth Medium-4) is recommended for optimal growth and survival in culture. ET-3 Growth Supplement, an additional growth factor required for adult melanocyte growth, is available separately to supplement the MGM-4 BulletKit for a complete formulation specifically designed for growing adult melanocytes.
