Venom Science has developed a Cobra Venom Detection Kit to assist in tracing the illegal use of cobra venom by racing trainers, previously difficult to detect. The test involves using specially treated venom antibodies which are labelled with markers that highlight the cobra venom when they come into contact with it.
Bio-Rad acquires Biotest diagnostics

Bio-Rad Laboratories has signed an agreement to acquire certain diagnostic businesses of Biotest for 45 million euros, the terms of which were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2010.
