Quantum Scientific has released the Shimadzu BioSpec-mini spectrophotometer that comes standard with a spectrum mode allowing for full spectral data acquisition over the wavelength range of 190 to 1100 nm.

Nucleic acid and protein analysis modules provide quick and easy answers.

Standard functions include: double and single stranded DNA and RNA quantitation; oligo length and sequence-based quantitation; protein assays: Lowry, UV, BCA, Bradford.

The instrument's standard program also allows determining molecular weight, molar absorption coefficients and theoretical melting temperatures.

The large LCD has been incorporated with prompts, large fonts and graphics to help reduce the time needed to get results.
